Live Earth Concert 07/07/07 2007/07/09 18:18
What an event! "The world's biggest concert ever"

Have a read over this quote from an article, if you havn't had heard about it yet

Live Earth is a monumental music event taking place on July 7th 2007 (07/07/07). The 24 hour, 7-continent, star-studded show will begin in Sydney, Australia, and then roll around the globe with concerts in Tokyo, Johannesburg, Shanghai, Hamburg, London's Wembley stadium, New York and finally, at 8pm, Rio de Janeiro's Copacabana beach. A special performance at the British Antarctic Survey Station in Antarctica will ensure all seven continents are included. There will be saturation coverage from TV, radio, the internet and at more than 6,000 parties in 119 countries. Live Earth aims to engage, connect, and inspire individuals, corporations and governments to take action to solve the climate crisis. The global program will reach an estimated 2 billion people worldwide!

It's indeed a bit funny though, seeing mayor car companies placing their ads at an event against global warming (http://www.liveearth.msn.com/) - lots of discussions have been going on around this subject, but in the end - lets face it - we won't be able to do the change without the industries. They do have the power and resources to start new structures. We have the power over the industries - with our choices for products.

So in the end it is probably a good sign seeing the multinationals committing themselves at such an event.

The 7-continent Live Earth concert taken place on 07/07/07 has been a unique event witnessing for the first time the good will of institutions, corporations and industries to face together with people the urgent problem of global warming. People have responded with great enthusiasm taking part into the concert live, on the air, TV and the web. This symbolic event shall prepare the ground for a real more enviromentalist life style where institutions and industries must have the support of people, true protagonist of this change with their conduct and choices.
I agree with Andreas' point of view - it is us who can ultimately play a big role !

Best greetings

Lets hope that this event has been more than "just an event" - but a start into a new mentality. A real change can probably only happen if people get the message from different directions. Not only environment wise, but also individual wise. "What am I living for" "What's my purpose in life?" and "What's my connection with everything around me?"

This goes far beyond getting the idea that something should be done to safe the environment. It's a complete shift of self understanding and understanding of being. Crossing fingers that things are on the path into the right direction already...
