Students connect with Nature - Tree Planting in Australind, Western Australia

8. August 2007

"Students need to connect with nature, to understand their responsibility for their environment". Martine Shepherd, teacher, initiator and organizer of a tree planting project sponsored by the Australian Government, is happy with the commitment her students develop for this project. Next to the riverbank in Australind a zone of several hundret meters has been provided for this initiative.

Funding for a good purpose - tree planting supported by the Australian Government Envirofund

The work is done, time for a break. Everyone has been working hard to make this happen. Especially Ms Shepherd, here on the left, has been planning this day for months. It has been in her head for much longer though, maybe even years. So a dream has come true for her on this day and thus for all of us - there can't be a greater success then making our future generations aware of their impact on nature and reconnect them to where we all come from.

Thousands of plants were provided to give the riverbanks of Brunswick River a new face and younger generations the chance to get in touch with the spirits of nature.

"The true meaning of life is to plant trees, under whose shade you do not expect to sit." Nelson Henderson

Thank you guys for a great job!
